Hello dear reader! I’m Andreina, the graphic designer and illustrator behind Adamantia Designs. If you’re reading this, chances are you’re just as obsessed with The 100 as I am. This show has not only captured our imaginations with its gripping storylines and unforgettable characters but has also inspired a thriving fan community that I’m proud to be a part of.

Today, I want to take you behind the scenes of Adamantia Designs and share how I bring the world of The 100 to life through my merchandise. From the initial spark of inspiration to the final product, every design I create is a labor of love, aimed at capturing the essence of the show that has meant so much to all of us.

Where It All Began: Falling in Love with The 100

My journey with The 100 started just like yours—by getting completely hooked on the show. From the very first episode, I was drawn into the intense world of the Ark and the Ground, captivated by the characters’ struggles, their growth, and the complex moral dilemmas they faced. But what really took me by surprise was the fan community that sprang up around the show.

As I dove deeper into the fandom, I realized that The 100 was more than just a TV show—it was a shared experience, a story that brought people together from all walks of life. The passion, creativity, and sense of belonging that I found in this community inspired me to start creating designs that would allow fans to express their love for the show in a unique and personal way.

The Creative Process: From Inspiration to Design

Creating The 100-inspired merchandise isn’t just about slapping a quote or a character’s face on a hoodie. For me, it’s about capturing the emotions, the themes, and the unforgettable moments that have made the show so special. Here’s a look at how my creative process unfolds:

1. Finding Inspiration in the Show

Every design starts with inspiration from the show itself. Whether it’s an iconic quote, a powerful scene, or the intricate symbols of the Grounder clans, I begin by immersing myself in the world of The 100. I rewatch key episodes, revisit character arcs, and even explore fan theories and discussions to ensure that my designs resonate with the community.

For example, the phrase “May We Meet Again” is more than just a farewell in The 100—it’s a promise of hope, a wish for reunion even in the face of death. When I designed the “May We Meet Again” hoodie, I wanted to capture that emotional weight, making sure the typography and layout reflected the solemnity and hope embedded in those words.

2. Sketching and Conceptualizing

Once I have a clear idea of what I want to create, I start sketching. This is where I let my creativity flow, experimenting with different layouts, fonts, and elements that might bring the design to life. I often create multiple rough drafts, playing with how to best capture the spirit of The 100 while keeping the design aesthetically pleasing and wearable.

For instance, when I designed the “Wonkru” hoodie, I wanted to incorporate both the strength of the clan and the unity it represents. The sketches featured bold, tribal-inspired fonts and imagery that symbolized Wonkru’s resilience. After several iterations, I finally settled on a design that I felt truly embodied what it meant to be Wonkru.

3. Digital Design and Refinement

After sketching, I move on to digital design. This is where the concept really comes to life. Using graphic design software, I refine the sketches, adjust colors, tweak the layout, and add details that make the design pop. This step is crucial for ensuring that the final product looks just as good in print as it does on the screen.

For example, the “From the Ashes, We Will Rise” design went through several rounds of digital refinement. I played with different fire and phoenix motifs before finding the perfect balance that captured the essence of rebirth and resilience—a key theme in The 100.

4. Testing and Feedback

Before any design makes it to the shop, I always test it out. I’ll print a few samples, try them on different colors and materials, and make sure everything is just right. I also love getting feedback from fellow fans—whether it’s through social media or close friends who are just as passionate about the show. Their input helps me fine-tune the designs and make sure they resonate with the community.

5. Launching the Design

Finally, it’s time to launch the design! This is one of the most exciting parts of the process—seeing my work go live and watching fellow The 100 fans connect with it. Every time someone purchases a hoodie, t-shirt, or mug, I feel a sense of pride knowing that I’ve created something that helps others express their love for the show in a personal way.

Creating for the Community: Why It Matters

For me, Adamantia Designs is more than just a business—it’s a way to give back to the community that has given me so much. I’ve connected with incredible people through our shared love for The 100, and creating merchandise that resonates with fans is my way of contributing to that shared experience.

Whether it’s a Wonkru warrior showing their strength, a Skaikru survivor embracing their resilience, or a fan cherishing the memory of their favorite character, each design is made with the community in mind. I want every piece of merchandise to be more than just a product—I want it to be a reminder of the emotions, the lessons, and the connections we’ve all made through The 100.

What’s Next?

As The 100 fandom continues to thrive, so does my passion for creating new designs. I’m constantly inspired by the show, by fan discussions, and by the stories fans share with me. Whether it’s through new character-focused designs, exploring lesser-known quotes, or even diving into the prequel series, I’m excited to keep creating for this amazing community.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Whether you’ve been with me since the beginning or you’re just discovering Adamantia Designs, I’m grateful for your support and excited to see where our love for The 100 takes us next.
