Falling in Love with The 100 and Finding My Creative Voice

In 2019, my life took an unexpected turn when I fell in love with The 100, a show that captured not only my heart but also my creative soul. As a Venezuelan fashion designer, I had always longed to express my creativity through wearable art, but I never imagined a post-apocalyptic TV show would become the canvas for my designs. Yet, The 100 wasn’t just any show; its themes of survival, courage, and unity resonated deeply with me—especially as someone who had to start from scratch in two different countries.

Designing for Fans: From Survival to Style

In many ways, I related to the characters’ struggles and the resilience they showed. Their fierce survival instincts mirrored my own. As a person who had to leave behind everything familiar, like Clarke and the others, I had to forge a new path. Designing apparel featuring the show’s most iconic phrases and symbols became my way of connecting with others who felt the same fire The 100 ignited in me.

Starting with simple t-shirt designs, my goal was to give fans like myself something to proudly wear that carried the spirit of survival, hope, and defiance that the show embodies. Whether it’s Octavia’s powerful Wonkru moments or Clarke’s unforgettable sacrifices, The 100 is a constant reminder that even in the hardest of times, you can survive and rise again.

Coping with the End: A Creative Pause

When the series ended in 2020, it felt like losing a part of myself. Like many fans, I found the ending bittersweet—some storylines felt rushed, some characters seemed out of place, and the plot took some unexpected turns. That left me, and much of the The 100 community, in a bit of a creative slump. For almost a year, I stepped back from designing anything new. It wasn’t just a disappointment in the show’s conclusion but the emotional weight of the characters not getting the endings they deserved.

Yet, something beautiful happened: the The 100 fan community didn’t fade away. Fans still flooded in, loving my designs and finding comfort in this shared passion. Their continued support reminded me of the deep connection we have to this story, this world, and these characters. Even through the rollercoaster of emotions, our love for The 100 remains.

Looking Ahead: The Legacy Lives On

As I look forward to the possibility of a prequel or reboot (which I know many of us dream about), I also cherish the legacy The 100 left behind. The series may have ended, but its spirit lives on in the hearts of those who believed in it from the start. And I’m so honored that, through my designs, I get to carry a small piece of that legacy with you all. Whether you wear a hoodie featuring “May We Meet Again” or a mug emblazoned with your favorite Grounder phrase, we are all connected through this universe that changed our lives.

Thank you for supporting not only my designs but for keeping The 100 alive in our hearts. Together, we embody the spirit of survival that the show taught us, and that’s something no ending can take away.
